Friday 06/14

☕️🌦️⚽️ Good morning everyone! Well, that was much better from the USMNT. On Wednesday, they took on 5 time World Cup winners Brazil, and managed to walk away with a 1-1 tie. The Americans started the game aggressive, testing the Liverpool keeper early on, while Brazil struggled to keep control of the game. In the later minutes, the defense stepped up, managing to stop a dangerous Brazilian attacking squad. OF course, the hero of the game was Turner, who managed to have 11 saves in the game. Does this result tell us more about what the USMNT is capable of or tell us what Brazil is lacking? You be the judge.

UEFA
Euro 2024

@UEFAEURO2024

💶🌐IT’S TIME; The first official major internaional tournament of the summer is here! Germany will host the UEFA European Championship in 2024, marking the 17th edition of this prestigious tournament. This will be the first time Germany hosts the UEFA European Championship since reunification, with the last instance being West Germany's hosting in 1988. The country also successfully hosted the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

📏📐 Before we begin, let’s discuss the rules, house rule everybody love everybody. UEFA EURO rules aren’t as cheery;

Stoppage Time: The tournament will not use the same long stoppage time rules seen in the 2022 World Cup and Premier League. Expect more concise and consistent stoppage times.

Refereeing Enforcement: Stricter refereeing will be in place. Any player who approaches the referee after a decision, other than the team captain, will be booked.

Smart Balls: The balls used in EURO 2024 will feature microchips to help referees detect handball offenses more accurately.

VAR Transparency: Stadiums will be required to show detailed explanations of VAR decisions to fans, ensuring greater transparency and understanding of the calls being made.

⚔️ 🤺 Filled with dark horses; Featuring some of the world's best players and teams. Cristiano Ronaldo returns to the international stage, while Kylian Mbappé looks to continue his rampage. Germany, rejuvenated and playing on home soil, will be a force to reckon with. Germany is a question mark after a string of disappointments at recent major tournaments, but new coach Julian Nagelsmann has lifted the mood of the host nation just in time for Euro 2024, with morale-boosting wins in friendlies against France and the Netherlands

  • The competition will be fierce with Harry Kane leading England and Italy defending their title. Not to be overlooked, Spain, a three-time winner, also poses a significant threat. The unpredictability of the European Championship, even with its expanded format of 24 teams, ensures compelling viewing with the potential for surprises at every turn.

  • Ukraine will be participating and can expect a warm reception from the German fans, especially since Germany hosted the team’s home matches during the qualifying campaign. In contrast, Russia was excluded from qualifying, continuing its suspension from all international competitions by UEFA and FIFA.

  • Other teams to watch include Croatia, which came third at the Qatar World Cup, and still has Luka Modric producing at the highest level with Real Madrid. Belgium’s golden generation has disbanded, yet it still qualified as a group winner, with striker Romelu Lukaku the top scorer with 14 goals.

  • If this is the year of another surprise winner, potential candidates could include Ralf Rangnick’s Austria, which impressed during qualifying; Denmark, a semifinalist in the last Euros; or Serbia, which has some serious attacking talent.

In a tournament that has produced some of international’s biggest shocks – anything seems possible. Be sure to stay tune as we bring you the latest to Banter.
