🆕🗓️⚽️ Good morning! We did it. We survived the first full week of 2024. A handful of South American National teams will be handed sanctions by FIFA due to fan misconducts. FIFA has been known to ban fans from attending games due to misconduct, forcing teams to play in empty stadiums, which was a rare sight before the pandemic. Argentina, Colombia and Chile will be forced to play with their stadiums at 50% capacity as a punishment for fan behavior. Read the full sanctions here.

👍⚽ The Americans are receiving the respect they deserve. At the moment, one can argue that Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie are in the list of the top 5 players in Italy. It seems like every weekend we see both of their names mentioned with a great performance or a goal contribution. This is exactly what the USMNT needs to build momentum for the Copa America this summer. Both players left England with a sour taste in their mouth, only to revive their careers in Italy with consistent playing time.

Real Madrid to face FC Barcelona in Spanish Super Cup

🏆🤺 El Clasico. For the second straight year, the Spanish super cup matchup is set to be Real Madrid vs FC Barcelona. The Super Cup is the trophy contested between the winner of the Domestic League in the previous season vs the winner of the Domestic Tournament in the previous season. Since 1982, the format was set as a two team tournament, effectively being one final. Most recently, in 2019, this format was changed to include 4 teams, meaning the runners up of both competitions were included as well.

The biggest game in soccer. At its peak, the rivalry matchup reached a total of 650 Million viewers. The height of this rivalry of course was due to the two best players in the world going head to head, Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi. Those legends are no longer there, and its time for a new generation to step up to the plate and entertain the world.
