The Premier League Weekend Preview

⚔️🏁 Manchester City vs Tottenham. Of course, City are looking to keep up the pressure on Arsenal as they host Tottenham this weekend. But what of Tottenham? They’ve lost their last three matches in league play after starting the year hot. The Spurs squad were an exciting team to watch as they threw caution to the wind with their fast flying attack, but with recent injuries and poor form, we’ll be curious to see how they face off against the defending league champs.

🆕🏰 Newcastle vs Manchester United. Newcastle will be wanting to ride the momentum after a big 4-1 win against Chelsea last weekend. They currently find themselves 1 point behind United in 7th place and will be hoping that United’s tough battle midweek in Istanbul will play a role in their matchup on Saturday. United’s attack has scored 6 goals in its last two matches, but all eyes will be on goalkeeper Onana as his mistakes have recently been costly ones for his team.

🛌😫 Liverpool vs Fulham. Ah, the punishment that can be playing in Europa League instead of Champions League midweek. Liverpool are coming off a comfortable win on Thursday in Europa League but the short turn around could prove to be a factor as player fatigue is rampant. Fulham had themselves an impressive win against Wolves this past Monday, with USMNT Antonee Robinson continuing his great form and proving to be a dangerous counterpart with Dest on the National team.

FIFA vs Agents

💸📨 FIFA gets blocked. Words you don’t hear too often. FIFA is an organization so powerful that you can find instances where their rules have overpowered local governments. Not this time. In an attempt to clean up their image and improve transparency, FIFA attempted to impose a cap on the fees that agents charge. With record transfer fees year after year, it doesn’t take a lot of imagination to figure out that these agents have an incentive to inflate transfer fees in order to get a bigger cut.

The Football Association held a tribunal and it favored towards the agents. The main reason cited by them was that it saw the proposed ruling as overreaching and would breach British competition law. Similar cases have been brought up in other European countries, with this case being the biggest blow to FIFA as England is the market that often generates the biggest fees.
