🎃 Happy Monday Team. It’s October and that means it’s spooky season. Don’t bring that up to Liverpool fans though, they’ve already had enough spookiness after this weekend. A perfectly legal goal was ruled offsides by VAR, and the league has apologized for the “hUmAn ErRor” but we don’t think that apology is going to fly.

Yankees Abroad

👨‍✈️ Captain America is cooking. In Italy, Pulisic put in a hard fought 82 minutes for AC Milan’s win over Lazio this weekend. Captain America scored his third goal of the season and continues to earn the respect of the Italian fans, just listen to how the commentators chanted his goal.

🚀 Laser from Balogun. In France, Balogun returned to the starting 11 for AS Monaco this weekend after missing two(!) penalties in their loss against Nice in the previous match. Balogun also went on to assist Akliouche to win the game. Balogun, you crushed it lad.

🏆 Man of the Match for Tillman. In Netherlands, a goal and an assist earned Malik Tillman the Man of the Match award. The Bayern Munich academy player recently made a costly mistake that reminded us of our high school years- he overslept his alarm and missed the team’s trip to an away match at Almere. Winning a MOTM award is probably a step in the right direction to win back his coach’s trust.

Liverpool's campaign at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend was notably hindered as they found themselves reduced to just nine players, after both Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota were sent off. Despite the numerical disadvantage, Jurgen Klopp's men showcased their pedigree, demonstrating tactical discipline and remarkable resilience as they tried to fight for a 1 to 1 draw.

🖥️❌ VAR= Very Awful Review. Adding to Liverpool’s woes was a contentious decision by the Video Assistant Referee. A Liverpool goal, initially celebrated for its precision, was disallowed due to an alleged offside. Subsequent replays raised significant doubts about the decision, marking yet another chapter in the ongoing debate about VAR's role and reliability in the sport. PGMOL Chief, Howard Webb, has issued an apology to Liverpool for the horrible mistake, while the VAR and assistant VAR officials from Saturday’s loss at Tottenham have been removed from duty until further notice.

💔😭 Last Minute Heartache. Despite Liverpool’s resilience, in the dying moments of the game, an extremely unfortunate own goal from Fabinho shifted the scales in favor of Spurs, leading them to win the match 2 to 1. Such events are a reminder of football’s unpredictability, where moments of unexpected drama can overturn minutes of calculated gameplay.

PSG has already suffered a defeat, and Nice's resilience has raised eyebrows. Will they continue to defy expectations and maintain their streak throughout the season?

🐂 La Liga. Barcelona remains undefeated in La Liga, thanks in part to heroic late-game goals. Their unbeaten streak extends to the Champions League as well, but a tough test awaits as they travel to Portugal to face FC Porto. Can they continue their win streak on the prestigious European stage?

🥇🥇🥇 Bundesliga’s Big Three. Three teams are on a mission to remain undefeated. Borussia Dortmund has been exceptional, except for a blip in their Champions League group opener against Paris. Former Real Madrid player Xabi Alonso is leading Bayer Leverkusen into an undefeated season, and the reigning champions, Bayern Munich, came back from dead to keep their season clear of losses. This is all more impressive considering the fact that all three teams are currently challenging in different competitions.

🍕🍝 Serie A: Land of Defeats and Upsets. This year’s Serie A has left no survivors, as every team has already tasted defeat. AC Milan faced a humbling 5-1 defeat against city rivals Inter, Napoli were handed their first loss by Lazio, and underdog Sassuolo managed to surprise both Juventus and table leaders Inter Milan. Napoli host Real Madrid while Milan travel to Dortmund to set the scene for a Pulisic-Musah-Reyna USMNT reunion.
