Monday 6/17

☕️🏆️⚽️ Good morning everyone! First full weekend of Euros in the books, and plenty of action to go over. Germany held nothing back against 10 man Scotland, finishing the game winning 5-1, setting the tone for the rest of the tournament. Spain also showed why they should be considered title contenders, beating Croatia 3-0, and for the first time in a long time, holding possession below 50%.. new era for the Spaniards? England and Netherlands both beating their opposition by a one goal margin, but who had a better showing out of the two? The second game always tells us the true story about a team’s form.

🐐🗣️Goat Trolls? Ronaldinho’s latest controversial comments spark debate ahead of Copa America but has provided much needed clarity.

  • Ronaldinho, who played a crucial role in Brazil's 1999 Copa America victory and their 2002 World Cup triumph, initially expressed dismay at the current state of the team. He described it as "one of the worst teams in recent years" with "no respectable leaders" and "average players for the most part." These comments, although later clarified as part of a campaign, reflect a period of uncertainty for Brazilian football.

Initially, he appeared to criticize the team harshly, stating they "lack everything" and showing disappointment in their performance. However, Ronaldinho has since clarified that these comments were part of an advertising campaign for a deodorant brand, and not reflective of his personal views.

  • Ronaldinho’s posts on Instagram suggested a "lack of love for the shirt" among the current squad, which led to a defense from current international Raphinha. However, Ronaldinho explained that his remarks were actually reproductions of social media posts from fans, intended to highlight the importance of fan support. He emphasized that hearing such negative reviews before playing could demotivate players and stressed the need for fan encouragement.

🫡🙃 All Smiles. Despite the initial uproar, Ronaldinho affirmed his continued support for the Brazilian national team. "I would never abandon supporting Brazil," he wrote on Instagram. He elaborated that the comments were meant to generate a reaction and ultimately increase support for the team, especially during challenging times.

  • "The support of the fans makes a huge difference for the players, and what they need is support at this time," Ronaldinho added. He highlighted the critical role of fan motivation in boosting the team’s performance, particularly as they face a difficult period in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying.

  • onaldinho has reiterated his support for Brazil and clarified that his comments were intended to boost fan engagement and support for the team. The Copa America journey begins soon, and the Selecao will look to draw strength from their supporters as they strive for success.

👀🗓️ Look Ahead. As Brazil prepares for Copa America, the spotlight will be on the team to overcome recent struggles and reclaim their status as a dominant force in South American football. Ronaldinho's campaign, despite its controversial delivery, underscores the crucial need for unity and support from fans during this pivotal time.

  • The Brazilian team, currently sixth in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying standings, has won just two of its six matches so far. Manager Dorival Junior and his players will aim to turn their fortunes around as they start their quest for Brazil’s 10th continental title against Costa Rica on June 24, followed by matches against Colombia and Paraguay in Group B.
