☕️🍀⚽️ Good morning everyone! How many Big Macs does $65 million buy you in France? It’s enough to become the name sponsor of the French soccer league, and kick the current sponsor, Uber, to the curb. We do have to wonder though, does Mcdonald’s know that Mbappe is set to leave the league next year?

⚖️📺 Week in and week out, a club suffers from VAR decisions. The best place to see how fans are feeling about a controversial VAR call? Run over to twitter and that should give you an idea whether fans disagree or not with the decision that was made. Without a doubt, there will always be a fan that will put the blame of missed points on VAR decisions. So, ever wonder where the table would be at now if those decisions had gone the other way? Say no more, ESPN has made a “what if” table for the current season, and you can check for yourself which club has been impacted the most from VAR decisions.

Pandemonium prevented at PSG-Real Sociedad

@DiarioAS/AmaiaZabalo

🚨🚓 Police stopped massive brawl on Tuesday night’s Champions League Ro16. Usually Champions League knockout rounds deliver spectaculars, and ideally on the pitch. However, the match could have gone sour had It not been for police intervention.

  • Real Sociedad and Paris Saint Germain faced each other in the second leg of the Champions League at San Sebastián Tuesday, after the first leg ended in a 2-0 victory for PSG in Paris

  • Ultra groups from both La Real and PSG had organized a violent “meet up” hours leading up to the match

  • San Sebastián caught wind of word and intercepted the Ultras’ plan for violence

  • Officials searched over 20 vehicles including busses carrying PSG and La Real supporters

  • Officials found 15 golf clubs, three ice axes, two pairs of brass knuckles, crowbars, flares, a knife, two pocket knives, several screwdrivers, a hammer, measurement rules, balaclavas and mouth guards

  • Weapons were also recovered from a section of the Real Sociedad Ultras

  • Buses carrying PSG Ultras was detected and sent back to France

🤩⚽️ Back to the Match, Mbappe showed a glimpse of what PSG will miss out on next season. The World Cup winner was arguably the man of the match. The lad bagged a brace to send Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League Quarter-Final as match ended in a 2-1 victory.

  • PSG headed into the second leg with a 2-0 advantage on aggregate

  • The French side struck first blood with a cheeky curler from Mbappe, who subsequently found the back of the net again in the 2nd half

  • Real Sociedad pulled back a well-deserved late consolation goal from Mikel Merino’s strike at the 89th minute

🤯👀 Fans celebrate a good ol’ fashion whooping? Somewhere around the 90th minute, when officials added 3 additional minutes of stoppage time to the second half, Real Sociedad fans did the unexpected… they celebrated their team down 4-1 on aggregate. It wasn’t just any ordinary celebration, it was the iconic Poznan.

  • The Poznan (aka Grecque) is a form of celebration that involves supporters standing with their backs to the pitch, linking shoulders side-by-side and jumping on spot in unison

  • The celebration is performed by supported to protest against the club’s management while still supporting their team

  • It was started by the supporters of Polish football club Lech Poznan,

  • Scottish club Celtic have a similar celebration known as “the Huddle” where the face away from the pitch and sing “Let’s All Do the Huddle” (make sure to suggest it at your next team meeting!)

  • The Poznan has recently been adopted in the English football as notably seen with Manchester City supporters

La Real are currently coming off of back to back losses, and find themselves sitting pretty seventh in the La Liga two points shy from sixth place Real Betis and twenty-six from league leaders Real Madrid.
