🤷♂️👀🚶Trabzonspor was the first punch, and left quite the bruise on Fenerbahce. Since the fans stormed the pitch during their match against Trabzonspor, leading to utter chaos between Fenerbahce players defending off angry fans, Fenerbahce has rightfully so been feeling some type of way.
FIFA condemned Turkish league violence thereafter, emphasizing the protection of players from attacks by the fans
Turkish Football Federation (TFF) announced a six game spectator ban at Trabzonspor home matches and fines of approximately $97,059, however on appeal the ban was reduced to 4 matches and $14,000
Trabzonspor, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce have all previously called for the resignation of TFF president Mehmet Buyukeksi and the current board.
🏆️☮️🕊️ Walk it out like an usher. After the appeal, Fenerbahce held a meeting where they considered leaving the top-flight league, the decision has been postponed to July. Fenerbahce seized their opportunity to let their frustrations known by staging a walk out one minute into the Super Cup final against Galatasaray, ultimately conceding the trophy.
“It is time for a reset of Turkish football.” Moments before the Super Cup match, Fenerbahce president Ali Koc issued a statement alleging injustices over 20 years justifying their rebellion against the system
Galatasaray’s deputy chairman Eden Timur pleaded his wishes that the match could have been played normally and stressed for transparency for society to be informed about whether these injustices occurred or not
⚽️🧦🙃 Back to the Final, which only took 101 seconds for it to unfold into utter chaos. Fenerbahce players walked off after conceding an early goal against rival Galatasaray, who was ultimately declared the 1-0 winner. Prior to the match, Fenerbahce already decided to field its under-19 team for the match to protest alleged unfavorable treatment by Turkish soccer authorities. Assistant manager Zeki Murat Gole also took charge of Fenerbahce young men.
The game was initially pencilled in for a meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia back in December but was called off due to the host nation not approving of planned honouring of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the first president of Turkey
The fixture was rearrange for Sunday, leaving Fenerbahce furious as they have their Europa Conference League quarter-final against Olympiacos this Thursday
Argentine forward Mauro Icardi scored in the first minute at Sanliurfa GAP stadium after being set up by Barış Alper Yılmaz
The Fenerbahçe players then left the field before the game could resume, drawing whistles from fans. Galatasaray celebrated with fans and then began playing against their reserve side to ensure it wasn’t a complete waste of the fans’ time.
