🔙💪 Making headlines, for the right reasons. Saying that Onana and Maguire have had a tough start to the season would be an understatement. Game after game, both players have received their fair share of criticism. Maguire lost the captain armband at the start of the season and his starting position as well. Onana’s confidence has taken a toll due to his mistakes in goal that have lead to him being blamed for some of Manchester’s losses.

✅🏁 Three straight starts. Despite the rough start to the season, Maguire has started in United’s last three games and managed to help his team win them as well. On Tuesday’s match against FC København, Maguire scored the game winner at the 72nd minute thanks to a cross from Christian Eriksen. We’re not sayin this three game stretch is what gets Maguire his armband back, but for a player who has been as criticized as much as he has, it’s encouraging to see him step up to the challenge.

🦸🧤 Late game heroics. Onana has made critical mistakes this season that have left fans wondering if they should have stuck with the Spanish keeper David de Gea. Tuesday was an opportunity to silence those doubters as he secured the 1-0 win for united. Scott McTominay conceded a penalty in stoppage time, setting up Onana’s heroic penalty stop.

Afteir their 2-0 win against Fulham on Monday, they sit at unbeaten at the top of the league with 23 points, Arsenal are the only other team that have yet to lose a game this season- they currently sit in third.

🚢🚢 New Captains Steering the ship. Son is not new to the team of course, but after Harry Kane’s departure this summer, he was given the captain’s armband. He scored his his 7th league goal on Monday and sits second in the league with only 2 goals behind Man City’s Erling Haaland. The team also has a new coach on the sidelines- Ange Postecoglou. Postecoglou was previously the coach at Scottish club Celtic, where he won the league 2 years in a row.
