Premier League
No, Not Nottingham Forest

@SkySports

🌳💸🎒 If you overspend in the Forrest, would anyone find out? In short yes, Nottingham Forest has confirmed to the Premier League that they breached the League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Nottingham Forest returned to Premier League for the first time in over 20 years after securing promotion through the 2021/2022 Championship playoffs. Nottingham were in the second-tier Championship until 2022m where clubs are permitted a maximum loss of £39m ($49.6m) across three seasons, or £13m ($16.6m) per season, meaning their permissible losses over the last three campaigns would add up to £61m ($77.7m). However, as you can imagine, playing and staying in the Premier League comes with a cost, and Nottingham wasted no time dabbling in the transfer market.

  • Nottingham were documented of adding 31 players, and they haven’t made much money from selling players.

  • Out of the 30 players, Nottingham broke the rule in 21 separate deals.

  • Forest has spent £250M on new signings since securing promotion

  • Nottingham sit 15th, and are 4 points clear of 18th place Luton.

🔨🧑‍⚖️💼 Another one?? Everton FC have also been confirmed to the Premier League for breaching the PSR for a second time. Everton are already in the process of appealing against a 10-point deduction they were dealt for breaching the rules in the 2021-22 season. However, Premier League’s rules says that over a 3-year cycle, clubs cannot lose more than £105M. Everton were dealt their deduction in November of 2023 for charges from 2019-20, 2020-21, and 2021-2022, but on December 31, 2023 they submitted accounts for last season, thus opening up a can of worms and financial discrepancies that weren't accounted for in the first deduction.

  • The Toffees are in the process of appealing the first batch of deducted points issued in November

  • Everton have been put in a vulnerable position after with their £760 million stadium

  • Everton head Coach Sean Dacha confirmed Everton’s second charge is “similar” to the first

🫣🫥🔜 There’s Blood in the Water, and more Clubs will be the next catch. The Premier League has charged the current champions, Manchester City, with 115 alleged breaches over a period of nine seasons. City has denied any wrongdoing. Nonetheless, City still await the outcome of the Premier League’s four-year investigation. One of the most severe punishments could include relegation from the Premier League or even expulsion from the Football League, as revealed by Sky Sports last year. There is also a possibility that they could be stripped of all three titles won during the period of time the investigation is looking into

  • Any final decision isn’t likely to be made public until the end of the 2024/2025 season however, which is the same year Pep Guardiola’s contract expires at the Etihad Stadium.

🔵 ⚪️ 🦁 The Lions Sleep Tonight. Chelsea FC finds themselves in a close-call. After spending close to £1BN over three transfer windows, Chelsea have recouped nearly half of their losses from selling players.

Jose Mourinho and Roma Are Parting Ways

OZAN KOSE

1️⃣🏆The Chosen One. Mourinho was appointed head coach at Roma in 2021. Mourinho is referred to as The Chosen one, and although this may be up to debate for some, his accomplishment in the world of soccer speak for themselves. He’s coached all over Europe and has won 26 trophies in his career, but perhaps one of the most impressive feats is the one that he achieved with the third team he managed: Porto. Mourinho achieved the unthinkable with a team that he had only been managing for two years, Champions of Europe in 2004.

Not an ideal season so far. Roma decided to part ways with Mourinho midseason as they find themselves sitting in 9th place in Italy. Although this season is not going as planned for Roma, Mourinho lead the team to a trophy winning season in 2022 by winning the European Conference League. In 2023, he lead the team to another European final, this time the Europa League, but fell short against Sevilla, who won their 7th title in the competition. So where to next for Mourinho? Wherever he goes, he’ll be sure to make his team a contender.
