Greece Government cracks down on violence

Associated Press

🆕🎥 Greece government cracks down. When violence erupts in the stands, it’s often difficult for authorities to identify those who were involved. In December, a riot erupted in Greece that was allegedly started by organized soccer fan groups, resulting in the death of a police officer. As a result, fans were banned for two months, and with the suspension set to end on February 12th, the government has a new set of rules for anyone who wants to attend games and the stadiums that host them:

  • The use of a state-run digital identification app is required to purchase tickets

  • Mandatory surveillance cameras at all stadiums required by March 6th

  • National registry of anyone involved in a soccer supporter club

  • Minors under the age of 15 need be accompanied by an adult

Kean to Atlético Madrid loan collapses

🚕💼🍝 48 hours in Madrid, Kean returns to Turin. Juventus and Atlético Madrid had agreed on a loan moving Italian striker, Moise Kean, to the Spanish capital. Kean was set on starting his new chapter with Atletico and had already flown to Madrid to attend their 2-0 victory over Valencia at the Wanda Metropolitan. All signs seem clear that his move to La Liga was imminent. However, in a shocking turn of events the loan deal collapsed between Juve and Atleti, with Atletico Madrid leaving negotiations.

  • Contractions and differences were raised between Juventus and Atletico’s respective medical staffs concerning Kean’s return from injury. Atletico’s medical staff opined that Kean’s recovery time would stretch into March, while Juve opined February

  • The loan agreement would have seen Kean spend the rest of the season in Madrid

  • Kean previously spent two seasons on loan at Juve from Everton before signing with the Turin giants

  • Kean is expected to traveling back to Italy after recently landing in Madrid this past weekend

👀💸🔜 Atletico has moved on, keeping their sight on La Liga this season, Atletico have adjuster their focus away from Kean towards strengthen their defensive line. Atletico are considering singing Valencia’s Gabriel Paulista following the injury of Jose Gimenez (as if putting two past them this weekend wasn't enough, Simeone wants to take their players). Atletico Madrid has been pretty active this transfer window, signing Belgian midfielder Arthur Vermeeren from Antwerp and Romanian keeper Horatiu Moldovan. The Rojiblancos take on Athletic Club in the Copa del Rey semifinals next week and Inter Milan in the round of 16 for UEFA Champions League.
