Wednesday 2/21

☕️💝⚽️ Good morning everyone. And just like that, a new season of MLS is upon us. As the U.S gears up to host three major international tournaments in three years, the domestic MLS is having its rising moment. Kicking off the season today? None other than the most talked about team in the off season: Inter Miami vs Real Salt Lake. It’s time to see if the old Barcelona reunion they’ve orchestrated in Miami will pay off, or if it will all have been a nice marketing ploy.

Giveaway: Wake up and smell the coffee. Our giveaway will be a $30 gift card for our favorite coffee brand- Kickoff Coffee. As always, each friend that you refer to subscribe to the newsletter is an entry to our raffle. Best of luck!

2024 Regular Season Schedule

👀✅ All Eyes in Miami. As Major League Soccer is officially back! However, defending champion Columbus Crew won’t be opening the season though. Instead, it’ll be Lionel Messi and Inter Miami getting dibs to start the season with momentum against a Western Conference playoff team. Real Salt Lake finished last season as the No. 5 seed but lost in the opening round of the playoffs. Make sure to check this season’s schedule and mark your calendar (maybe schedule that happy hour with the crew).

FIFA 2K v. EAFC

@RealSport101

🔜👀 Back from the dead? With what appeared to be the last FIFA installment ever, FIFA may be blessing our consoles once more. FIFA is in talks with American video game publisher 2K to kick-start the new soccer game franchise. Is this start of a civil soccer game war?

  • The international governing body of association football previously parted ways with Electronic Arts (EA Sports) last year

  • The split was due to several issues including contract disputes, and EA Sports refusal to pay FIFA $1 billion to renew their deal

  • FIFA removed their servers and deleted all of their previous games from their online stores as well

  • The two sides initially joined forces to create their first video game way back in 1993

🕹️🎮️ Is EA Sports FC at risk? Since their split, EA released EA Sports FC ‘24 this past September. EA Sports FC 24 recorded a 7% increase in sales compared to their last FIFA 23 game. However, despite their attempts to fill in the void that ruined friendships and controllers brought joy and fun with the fellas, FIFA games haven’t lost their popularity. Many fear Football fans still adore the game despite its faults for its online mode.

  • 2K Games is famously known for their number of sports franchises, including NBA 2k and WWE 2k, but has been out of the soccer game arena for years

  • 2K Games and FIFA may be entering a partnership to develop a brand-new soccer game that uses' the global soccer association’s licensing

  • Back in March 2023, recently re-elected FIFA boss Gianni Infantino infamously said “that the new FIFA game- FIFA 25, 26, 27 and so on will always be the best game”2K is among the very few companies that have both the sports game expertise and the budge to realistically amen a giGA game as fans know it

  • A partnership with FIFA would allow 2K games to make an official video game for the World Cup, with the tournament happening next in 2026, potentially making it a strong debut opportunity for 2k’s soccer title
